Learning

A man only learns in two ways, one by reading, and the other by association with smarter people.

Great podcast that I've been listening too.

Backtrack

Having a heck of a time trying to get WiFi to work on this Backtrack 5 installation on a Dell D610. I am sure it's just a matter of time that I figure it out, but I am impatient this morning.

Medieval Times

I went to Medieval Times yesterday with the kids from school, a field trip, and had a great time.  Everything went smoothly on the trip although I haven't checked my classroom to see what happened there. I intentionally avoided that like the plague so I wouldn't be pissed off, since I knew the kids would have given the substitute a run for his money.  They are getting alittle out of hand and I've had to sit of them pretty hard, so I can imagine what it was like for him. Our knight, the red knight didn't win the battle but all the kids had a great time.  I posted a few pictures on Flickr, but I didn't take my DSLR, I took an old point and shoot that I leave in my truck, so sorry if they aren't very good pictures.

Home alone

Nice day yesterday spending some time alone. Debbie took the girls to see the Muppet movie, which she said was good, so I spent the afternoon alone.  I got some errands done and had some nice quiet time to read and take a long walk. It's nice to know your not in a rush to get anything done or get home to listen to little girls argue with one another.

Some people never change

All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today.

Happy Sabbath

I am so happy that my day of rest has arrived. Izzy performed with the children's choir during both services. We also attended the Sabbath school holiday brunch and the choir lunch.

Who am I

I am the man I am today because of all the events that have happened prior. The sum of my personal history is contained within me. I am free to change who I am and what I do today. It's nice to be in control of myself and how I act. I am going to have a great day and see some old friends.

Old friend

Saw an old friend yesterday while having lunch with some coworkers, nice to see you Ryan. It seems that no matter how much I try I can never really stay in touch with old friends any longer. Between work, kids and other responsibilities I never have the time. I guess it's like Tom Adams, a guy I went to the academy with said, "life just takes over." Oh well tonight I'll get to see some old friends.

The day gone by in a flash

Yesterday went by in a flash. I got up, went to work, came home and it was waving good bye.

Smores and the bad girls.

First back to school after Thanksgiving break. It’s sure nice to see my kids and make sure they are all okay. Rough night with my own kids it’s like they took some “Bad Girl” pills or something. They sure have learned how to fight with one another. I tired to have a fire out back and do “Smores,” but they just weren’t being nice enough, so the fire was a waste of time.

Back to work

After a week I am back to work today.  A morning at the school district's main office for training and the afternoon with my kids. I am glad to get back into the routine of work. I think I do much better with the sameness that work brings. I don't like change too much and the holidays always mess up the routines that I've set-up. Oh well, I'll have to step out of my comfort zone in a week or so when the major disruption occurs.
