Surgery and Sabbath

Lonnie, my mother-in-law, had surgery today. I'd planned on going to church this morning, but we went to Hemet to standby at the hospital with Marty. Lonnie had a complete bowel obstruction. They had to open her up, and remove about 18 inches of her lower intestines. Debbie and Britty have both been upset. I feel very uncomfortable going to the hospital. I don't like seeing anyone sick, because it reminds me that it could be the people I love. I really don't like watching Debbie and what it does to her. I don't like feeling or seeing the pain, but I try to be strong for Debbie's sake.
I worry that it's going to be my parents someday. I sometimes try to distance myself from this pain. It doesn't really work.

Mallard Fire on top of Mt. San Gorgonio

About 3:00 PM on July 14th, 2006 from the Oak Valley Greens Park in Beaumont, CA. (Right by my house).

Fire, Fire, Fire!!!

Over 62,000 acres have been burned and it's out of control. They think that the Sawtooth and Millard Canyon fires have joined. Tonight I'm sure we'll see flames on top of Mt. San Gorgonio. It's about 103 degrees right now, I can't imagine how hot it is in Yucca Valley.

The last few days

I've been fairly busy around the house, running errands and yardwork. Lonnie is still in the hospital, so Debbie has been on edge wondering if she's going to be okay. It looks like it is a bad case of multiple Kidney stones. Ouch, that's going to be painful. It's been hot and several major fires are burning the heck out of the desert a few miles away from us. Over 50,000 acres have burned. Smoke hasn't been a problem, the wind is blowing out towards the desert. Britty was gone for two days up in Big Bear with friends. She said it was cool in the mountains and she had a great time. The Summer volleyball season has started for Britty, so that means we'll be busy going to games. She's also taking softball pitching lessons in Yucaipa, and I went yesterday to catch for her. I took a few pictures of the fire and put them up on Flickr, so just search for my last name and you'll find them. Last night was school and that always drives me crazy. I just can't stand still that long and pay attention to material that I'm not even interested in. On a positive note, Ryan and I had diner and it's always nice to see friends. We at a real dive though, that didn't even have Iced Tea. The place was trashed also. I just looked beat to hell, but the food was okay. I guess people go to get drunk not eat there. I need to make two business cards in Photoshop for the Kiwanis and Optimist Clubs. I'm going to really try and get new members. I think both clubs need new blood. I guess the problem across the country is that Civic Clubs are dying. Well, I'll try to change that here. I did complete a simple website for the Optimist Club here in Beaumont. Here is the URL www.BeaumontCaliforniaOptimist.com, hopefully it will generate some interest and I'll get the word out that we exist and what our message is. I need to get one made for the Kiwanis, although I'm having a tough time getting motivated. Wednesday, I went on a Intra Club Kiwanis Club visit to Banning, CA. It was a larger meeting and a group from Highland also visited. It meet at Johnnie Russo's on Ramsey Street and the lunch was horrible. It took forever to be served and it just wasn't very good tasting at all. That suprising me since I've eaten there before and always had a good meal. Today, Britty is going to work at Nancy Hall's place cleaning out stalls and doing some office work. Hey it's good money and she wants to get a few things when she gets paid. I think it's good for her and she'll understand the value of money now that she's working for it herself. She's a good kid and I really am proud of how well she is doing. We are going to visit Lonnie tonight at the Hemet Valley Hospital and I hope that she's feeling better. Sabbath is coming and I'm hopeful for some rest.

Moogot2

A great band I got to see at Humbrews in Arcata, CA. Darien, from tribe.net is the drummer. It was a cool night although I just didn't fit in with the 420 crowd. Kim and Dave went with me. www.moogot2.com

Lonnie's in the hospital

Lonnie was admitted to Hemet Valley Hospital with an unknown pain in her stomach area. She is in alot of pain. Marty called us and sounded like he was really upset. She was still in the Emergency room when we arrived. I tried to stay calm and just be supportive. She was admitted and they really don't know what is wrong. They think maybe Kidney Stones, but nothing is for sure. I hope that she gets better soon. We stayed until about 11:00 PM, but Debbie has to work, so we went home.

Yesterday

I tried to donate yesterday at the Blood Bank, but I was turned away because my iron was too low. So I got alittle upset and bought Iron pills to take, since I've been borderline the last few times. When I got home I relaxed and started to prepare dinner. I was going to BBQ some hamburgers, but Marty, my Father-in Law called and said the Lonnie, my Mother-in-Law was at the Hemet Valley Hospital ER. She was having some severe abdominal pain. We immediately drove to Hemet to support Marty, since he sounded very upset on the phone. We waited while she was evaluated in the ER. After a few hours, Britty and I went to dinner. We brought food back for Debbie and Marty. About 10:00 PM, we left and Lonnie was admitted so that could find out was wrong.

Off to the Blood Bank

I'm off to the Blood Bank for another donation. I think I'll get pretty close to my goal of 5 gallons in donations this year. I'd like to see Dan Deane's face when he finds out that I've donated more this year. I know I'm going to be tired after this but I'll just relax and nap.
